Scholarship Programme for Exceptional Maths and Physics Students

The Future Teaching Scholars programme (FTS) is a new and unique approach to teacher training that supports students throughout their university years and beyond. It encourages exceptional maths and physics students to go on to teaching the subjects they are passionate about. By working with a network of outstanding Teaching Schools, Scholars benefit from a range of training and gain significant in-school experience, before they begin their Initial Teacher Training (ITT).

It ultimately aims to ensure that more children learn from confident, knowledgeable and highly skilled teachers with a passion for vital STEM subjects. With nearly a third of all teachers leaving in the first five years, the Future Teaching Scholars programme has been designed to offer an extended and structured programme of support that goes far beyond just the early days for new teachers.

There are many routes into teaching, but the Future Teaching Scholars programme is unrivalled in its level of training, learning, support and financial benefits. Future Teaching Scholars receive a £15k grant at university, as well as salaried ITT, with a total of 6-years of support and training, access to exclusive events, and help finding their first teaching job.
