Remembrance Day November 2014

In the First World War’s centenary year, Park High marked Remembrance Day with a 2 minutes silence, and also shared stories of family members who had been directly involved in The Great War. Earlier in the Year, a WW1 focused Personal Development Day saw students engage in a variety of activities that focused upon the countries of the British Empire and their sacrifice and contribution to the war effort.

David Massey Visit October 2014

Author, David Massey, talked to students about his work and then ran creative writing workshops for students, which resulted in some wonderful pieces of written work.

Jacqueline Wilson Trip October 2014

Ten quick-reading students, who read the most Jacqueline Wilson books in a week, were rewarded with a visit to Manchester to see the author at her 100th book launch. After an exciting presentation, the girls were lucky enough to meet the author and be photographed with her, and TV’s Helen Skelton, by the press! The trip formed part of our school's popular annual literacy week.

Year 7 Cell Work September 2014

Mrs. Eulert's Year 7 Science class were set the tricky homework of 'creating' a cell - a model to show the various components of cell make-up. She was so impressed with the high level of effort by the students that we decided to gve the work a special display in our gallery!

Flash Mob!

To promote Lancashire County Council's Emotional Health and Wellbeing Campaign, twelve students performed a secretly rehearsed ‘flashmob’ – a dance routine which begins suddenly for no apparent reason and then disperses as quickly - surprising onlookers.

Personal Development Day

Students engaged with our local community - they delivered easter eggs and student-baked cupcakes to local residents and community groups, collected litter, packed shopping bags at a supermarket, helped at primary schools, received CPR training, learnt about different faiths, discussed youth stereotypes, and the Media Team interviewed local residents about their views on youth and our school. A rewarding experience for the students who gained a better understanding of their community.
