At the heart of the report there is recognition of the core family values of our school which drives our determination to ensure that 'no-one gets left behind'. Indeed, the report states: "There is a nurturing ethos in the school that creates an environment in which pupils can thrive."

The most pleasing aspect of our Ofsted feedback is the wonderful comments interwoven into the report, which emphasise the amazing personal qualities of Park High students. Particular praise included:

“Pupils are polite, friendly and behave extremely well around the school.”

“They wear their uniform well and have pride in their school community.”

“In lessons, pupils show respect to their teachers and each other, which creates a positive atmosphere for learning.”

“Pupils enjoy their learning and are keen to do well.”

We were also pleased that the hard work, dedication and skill of the school staff have been commended, the report stating:

Teachers know their pupils well, and the high expectations they have of them builds their confidence and self-esteem.”

The report applauded school leaders who have been prepared to take “bold” and “visionary” action to ensure:

“Pupils achieve well across a wide range of subjects, making particularly good progress in mathematics and science. As a result of an effective curriculum which meets the needs of all, the progress of pupils in Year 7 to 11 is very strong.”

The school’s procedures for keeping students safe are described as “exemplary” and parents

“offer high praise for the school, speaking of how their children have flourished there.”

In addition to the school’s drive for academic excellence for all, Ofsted recognised that Park High has maintained a strong balance between the academic and personal development aspects of their students’ education. The report commented: “Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a very high priority in the school and is led very effectively.” We firmly believe keeping this balance is essential to ensure the long term happiness and resulting success of our students.

Ofsted also recognised the continual support the school receives from parents; support which is an essential element of Park High students’ success:

“Parental comments provide clear evidence of how much they value the care, support and guidance that their children receive from all staff.”

“Staff work extremely well with parents and external agencies to make sure pupils’ welfare needs are managed sensitively so that they can flourish.”

In a letter to parents, Dr Parkin thanked them for their continued support and concluded, “It is a great privilege to lead a school with such wonderful young people and dedicated staff.”

As well as highligting the strengths of the school, the inspection team also gave Park High some guidance on how to secure an overall outstanding judgement when the school is next inspected. Our improvement plans are being refined to ensure these areas are fully addressed.
