Year 7 girls football

Pendle runners-up
The Year 7 girls took part in the Pendle Girls’ Tournament at Fishermore. It was a bitterly cold night to play in, but that did not affect the girls.
They played excellent football, passing with purpose and working together as a team. They drew their first game with Fishermore and went on to beat both Primet and Marsden Heights.
Goals came from Orla, Gracie, Lucy, Ella-Mae and Frankie, who finished as the top goal scorer. Frankie even scored a hat-trick in one of the matches. Her determination to get past players and her vision in front of goal played a key role in Park’s success.
Before the tournament, the message to the girls was to show desire and effort in every game. They demonstrated this throughout. Lucy was central to all phases of play both in attack and defence, and was a fundamentally crucial player for Park.
Ella-Mae also performed brilliantly on the wing. She never gave up and showed great determination, contributing both by scoring and creating chances for her teammates.
Park were beaten in the final by Fishermore. However, this result does not reflect the level of performance the girls showed. As mentioned, this Year 7 team has a great deal of potential and will no doubt compete strongly for silverware in the future.
