There are three pathways that students can follow at Park High School:
The Ebacc pathway is a suggested pathway based on the students’ performance in French. This pathway leads to the “Ebacc” qualification which includes Maths, English, Science, Geography or History and a language. These students can then select one free choice. The majority of students will follow this pathway.
The Core pathway includes all aspects of the Ebacc pathway with the exception of French. These students have two free choices, one in Year 9 and one in Year 10.
The ASDAN pathway is for selected students who would benefit from the additional support provided by the course.
All students will undertake a Religious Education qualification in Years 9 and 10.
All students will study Geography and History until the end of Year 9, when they will then choose to continue with either Geography or History in Years 10 and 11.
We have a range of high quality vocational qualifications which are equivalent to GCSE.
These vocational qualifications are appropriate for all ability ranges and should not be perceived as a weaker qualification to traditional GCSE qualifications. These courses replicate how these qualifications are delivered post-16 and offer an opportunity to develop higher skill levels to be successful when students leave school.

ASDAN Pathway:
This pathway os for selected students only.
ASDAN is an awarding organisation whose curriculum programmes and qualifications help young people develop knowledge and skills for learning, work and life.
ASDAN courses and programmes aim to:
• enhance self-belief and resilience
• engage and motivate young people
• strengthen and celebrate learners’ academic and vocational education
• inspire creativity and ambition to make full use of students’ talents
• prepare learners with knowledge and skills for the workplace
The Personal Development Programme (which is the course chosen for our students at Park) enables students to:
•develop and demonstrate a range of personal, social and employability skills
•broaden their experience and instil confidence
•gain knowledge of real-life activities, creating well-rounded members of society
The programme is practical, engaging and flexible and the content of the course can be personalised, therefore the student has control of their own learning and can work at their own pace. The programme is externally assessed through their student book and evidence portfolio, so there will be no exam to prepare for at the end. Your child will leave with either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. Some of the modules may involve additional qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh award or The Arts award.
