U14 girls football

An excellent afternoon at the Burnley FC tournament

Girls football continues to thrive at Park and we were able to take 2 teams to the Burnley FC U14 tournament at Accrington and Rossendale College on Tuesday afternoon.

With 8 teams there in total it meant plenty of game time for the girls and it was great experience for them.  Our Park 'B' team was mainly made up of younger pupils and gave  a great display in their fixtures with some good play and promising signs for the future.  Special mention in this team does go to Year 9 Lexie Tillotson who switched to the team to initially go in goal before playing outfield later and proving to be an excellent role model for others.  The 'B' team finished in 6th place having won 2 of their 7 games.

The 'A' team looked strong throughout as they set about their opposition, creating lots of chances.  Goals were shared around the team with the attacking play taking place with the assurance that Imogen Taylor and Kara Turner had things covered at the back.  At one point they were in pole position to take the tournament but a 1-0 defeat in their penultimate game, despite dominating it, meant that they finished in 2nd place.

More football to come for the girls with the Year 7's in action next week as well as practices starting again with Mr Morrison soon as the lighter nights arrive.

Well done to all the girls that played on Tuesday, as usual you were superb and continue to make us all very proud of you.
