U14 Lancashire Cup basketball

Park travelled to All Saints, Rossendale for their Lancashire Cup Quarter Final on Tuesday night.

Park travelled to All Saints in the knowledge that their opponents had scored a lot of points in the group stages of the Lancashire Cup, so they were in for a challenge.

We started the game well and took the lead with a hard-working first quarter meaning we led 9-6.  As we grew into the game it was clear that it was going to be a close game as we arrived at half-time with just a 1 point lead.

All Saints squad of 11 threatened to get away from us as they rotated more often than we did with our smaller squad but our players never stopped.  Lennox and Louie Tatam continued to drive us forward, Kyran Denton made some vital intercepts , Henry Robinson and Ed Culshaw were a threat in the attacking half and the outstanding Dylan Cassidy-Butler never stopped in either half.

Despite their efforts we found ourselves 28-23 down in te early minutes of the final quarter.  The resilience of the boys was incredible as they rattled in12 points in a short space of time and an unbelievable basket from Dylan made it 35-30 in the closing moments as we progressed to the Semi Finals.  An absolutely outstanding performance which Mr Schofield described as one of the best performances he has seen from one of our teams.  Bring on the Semi Finals!!
