U15 Girls English Schools Football

Park High 4 The Mirfield Free Grammar School 5
The U15 girls faced The Mirfield Free Grammar School in Round 3 of the English Schools Cup, producing a highly competitive and entertaining fixture.
Park started the match strongly, dominating the first half and spending long spells in the opposition half. Kara was a constant attacking threat, scoring two well-taken goals, while Martha added another to give us a deserved 3-1 lead at half-time.
At the break, the key message was to secure the next goal. However, Mirfield responded quickly, scoring early in the second half to make it 3–2, which gave them renewed belief. They continued to push forward and eventually levelled the match at 3–3.
Martha then helped lift the team again, scoring her second of the game to restore the lead, however, Mirfield equalised almost immediately, bringing the score to 4–4.
The final 15 minutes were tense and physical, with both sides aware that the next goal would likely decide the tie. As we attempted to regain possession and build an attack, Mirfield broke quickly on the counter and scored with four minutes remaining, sealing a 5–4 victory.
Although the result is disappointing, the girls showed determination, quality, and strong team play throughout. We now shift the focus to the Lancashire Cup, where the squad has an excellent opportunity to progress further. Well done to all the girls
