Year 11 football success

Year 11 victorious in Burnley FC tournament

The Year 11 football team had another successful afternoon, this time participating in the Burnley FC tournament at Nelson and Colne College.  On a great day for football the boys started very well winning the first 4 games against Unity Claret's team (2-0), Unity Yellow's team (4-0), West Craven (2-1) and Fishermore (1-0) before meeting Shuttleworth in the final league game.  The boys took their foot of the gas a little, knowing they were already through to the Semi-final and suffered a 1-0 defeat.

This meant Park were the winners of the league stage and automatically qualified for the semi-finals where they again faced Shuttleworth.  A much improved performance saw Park take the lead after just 13 seconds before adding a 2nd just a couple of minutes later.  Shuttleworth did manage to pull a goal back but some excellent play saw us through to the final with a 5-1 victory.

In the final we played West Craven who we had a close game against in the league.  Another excellent team performance saw us win 2-0, although if it had not been for the superb West Craven keeper it could have been more.  A fantastic performance meaning we were champions.

The team today was - Alfie Whalley, Joe Boyle, James Carr, Lukas Clement, Tom Garner, Connor Denton, Joe Hopkinson, Luke Airdrie and captain Lochlan Cairney.  Well done to all the boys.
