Year 7 7-a-side

A valiant effort from the Year 7 team
Year 7 took part in the Pendle Schools 7-a-side tournament at Fishermore on Tuesday night and, despite some fantastic performances, finished in 4th place.
In the opening game we lost to a late Primet goal meaning we had to show some resilience to bounce back. Consecutive 2-0 wins against Pendle Vale and Marsden Heights put us back in the competition as our attacking players Mason Sharples, Josh Morley and Jacob Dowd shone. This meant that going into the final 2 games we were still in with a chance of finishing top. We played West Craven next and dominated the game with several chances. West Craven rarely made it out of their half but when they did Tom Bradbury and Maison Booth dominated in defence and Charlie Fowler was excellent in a sweeper keeper role! Despite our dominance the game finished 0-0 meaning we went in to the final game needing a win. The game against Fishermore followed the same pattern with the opposition hardly getting out of their own half. We hit the cross bar 3 times and the Fishermore goal keeper made 2 outstanding saves to deny Lottie Smith.
Overall, a very enjoyable evening with a superb group of pupils who continue to be a credit to themselves and the school. The final placing of 4th does not reflect their performances but their attitude, approach and endeavour is certainly to be admired.
