Year 7 Netball Tournament and the typical British weather!

Some of the year 7 Netball squad played in their first competitive tournament of the year at Pendle Vale tonight.

With four teams to play, the girls began with a game against Fishermore. It was clear in the first few minutes that they were going to need time for the nerves to settle and to get into their rhythm as a team. Despite many close chances and determined defending by Agota Petrauskaite, Annie Mae Wilcock and Hollie Fitzpatrick their first game finished 5-0 to Fishermore with Hayley Ibbotson Booth voted Player of the Match for her determined attitude as GA. Following a quick team talk, the girls went into their second game against Marsden Heights with a positive attitude and a much calmer approach. It made all the difference and there was no stopping them. There were strong passes from Kara Turner, Isabelle Shickle, Isla Bracewell and Amelia Colton to get plenty of chances in our attacking third, and they won their game 4-0 with Alice Hartley scoring 4 fantastic goals and being awarded Player of the Match. It was clear their first game was just a warm-up, and they went on to play Pendle Vale showing the same great team work and determination. However, part way into their game the British weather decided to throw everything it had at them and despite continuing to score in the horizontal rain the tournament was brought to an abrupt end with the score finishing 2-0 to Park. Although their first Tournament wasn't fully completed the girls learnt a lot and showed what a fantastic squad they are. Well done to all the players.
