Year 10 visited Burnley College today, to sample some of the amazing courses they offer and to support our students in making informed decisions for their post 16 pathway. Students enjoyed sessions ranging from Criminology and Forensics to Construction and Engineering, E Sports to Travel and Tourism. They had an amazing time and has certainly got them thinking about their next steps!
Year 5 students from our local schools have thoroughly enjoyed their taster sessions in Science this week as part of Park High Discovery Days. They have been testing household chemicals to see whether they are acidic, alkaline or neutral using a natural indicator. They were then wowed with the Rainbow Fizz Demonstration. They worked safely and collaborated brilliantly in their groups; it was a pleasure to have them.

Year 9 students have been studying Forces and many of them have had the opportunity to design a bottle rocket. They then used out bottle rocket launchers to launch them and watch them fly (and fall!). They have had great fun whilst developing their understanding of Forces and Pressure. Great work Year 9!
Congratulations to our Year 10 Football team who finished the season as the Year 10 Pendle Champions. Winning the league for the two consecutive seasons.
On Friday evening the team played in a play off against Primet after both teams finished the season unbeaten (4 wins and 1 draw).
The final that took place at Fisher More finished 1-0 to Park with a first half goal from captain Connor Smith.
In central defence both Josh Morley and Rhys Howard were strong against a talented Primet team. Lewis Wilkinson and James Galloway worked tirelessly at full back to support the team in both defence and attack.
The hard working midfield of Bartosz Jagiello, Harvie Gibbs, Joshua Sims and the impressive performance of Harry Smith ensured that Park dominated the game.
Centre forward Charlie Sims led from the front and continued to press and close down Primet and make it hard for them to pass the ball out. Charlie's pace in attack also gave Park the chance to break away and counter attack several times. But it was the match winner Connor Smith that made the difference with a low shot from the edge of the box in the first half.
In the later stages of the game talented goalkeeper Alex Byrne was alert to come off his line and deny the Primet threat.
Friday focus!

Well done to our amazing sprinters who came overall runners-up in last night's Pendle Sprints event at Pendle Vale.
Year 7 have been studying a topic on Space. As part of their learning, they conducted an investigation into how orbital time os affected by the radius of an orbit or 'Do planets further away from the Sun orbit slower or faster?'.
They made use of our wonderful grounds at Park to take their investigation outside to give them more room to allow them to 'orbit' a mass on a string around their heads. They had great fun and collaborated well as a group with different individual roles. Great job Year 7! #collaboration #teampark
