Our Under 14's began their Lancashire Cup season with two victories against St Wilfrids C of E Academy, Blackburn.
Park A winning 18-5
Park B winning 24-10
Some great basketball was played in the two games with most players getting on the score sheet.
Special mention to Louie Tatam, Lennox Tatum and Oleksandr Mutsaniuk for their performance in both offence and defence,
Year 7 completed vegetable samosas this week. Using all the skills they have learnt this term they diced, grated and blended vegetables before cooking them and adding spices to taste. They then learnt how to fill, shape and cook them before taking the samosas home for a great snack.
Year eight made a classic American dish this term. Key Lime pie introduced them to the different functions of milk products. Butter to set the biscuit base, cream to hold the air and create texture, and condensed milk for sweetness that contrasts the lime taste.
Year 9 started practising their scientific skills this term. In year 11 they have to design, conduct and write up a 2000 word food science experiment. Here they investigated enzymic browning and how the food industry can delay or prevent it in pre-sliced fruit.
In Year 8 Art, students have been creating zentangle insects inspired by Rosalind Monks. Miss Hooper and Mrs Gibbons are impressed with the intricate detail that they have captured. The finished designs are going to be stunning!

Success in the first badminton tournament of the year
Wednesday evening saw our Under 16 boys taking part in the Pendle District Singles Badminton Tournament. The weekly practice helped the lads to victories over Primet, Pendle Vale College and Fisher More students in the group stages.
Unfortunately, none of the lads managed to progress to the final, but all enjoyed a great tournament.
