In year 7, students make pizza toasties. So, in year 8, they will build on that knowledge by making the pizza dough and learning about the function yeast and gluten play in bread production. They can then improve on their toasties by adding new ingredients and learning how to shape the dough.
Following on from their success at the couscous salad, year 7 have been putting their knife skills to use and making pizza toasties. Leaning how to grate food and use the grill safely, pupils could pick what bread and toppings they wanted to experiment with to make a tasty lunch time meal.
Year 10 took their chicken legs and wings this week and marinaded them in a BBQ sauce before roasting. They then charred some sweetcorn before adding spices and mixing with boiled rice.
Each week, students earn credits in every subject for actively engaging in lessons and producing outstanding work. At the end of the week, the Student of the Week award is presented to the top students in each house who have received the highest number of credits.

Thank you to all parents, prospective students and members of the community for attending our annual Open Evening on Thursday. The hunt for the stickers was in full-swing and each faculty showcased what makes us proud to be Park!
This week, we welcomed three different colleges into school for our lunchtime drop-in sessions: Burnley College, Myerscough College and Nelson & Colne College. Students from every year group had the opportunity to come along, chat with the colleges and find out more about their options for life after school. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, curiosity and some brilliant questions from our students. A huge thank you to Ella, Azz and Paul for taking the time to speak with our students and help them to explore what their next steps could look like if they were to join their college. A big thank you to all of the colleges who have supported us this week. It’s been great to see our students engaging with different opportunities.

This week, year 10 took one chicken breast, breaded it (panné), and then shallow fried. They then topped it with passata sauce and melted cheese. To finish their burger, they blended a fresh pesto sauce.
Year 10 have made an excellent start to the new academic year with these outstanding observational drawings. Ms. Hooper and Miss Fellows are very impressed! Keep up the good work year 10.
Personal Development (PD) Day 1 is upcoming on Tuesday 29th September!
For our new Year 7 cohort, this means that lessons are collapsed for the day and students will cover an area of the PD curriculum. There are 5 PD Days across the academic year and themes for each day will rotate, here are the themes for our first PD Day:
