  • Spread Kindness!

    Published 13/06/23

The recent ‘World empathy day’ definitely inspired our students and staff to think about different ways in which they could spread kindness throughout the day. Our reading ambassadors did a fantastic job running activities in the library at break time all associated with Empathy!

They helped pupils complete word searches, riddles, book marks and facilitated the student challenge of sharing as many compliments about their learning as possible throughout the day. This was a huge success and made many teachers and students feel wonderful!

Last night's Leadership Development team spent time evaluating and reviewing our current knowledge organisers, sharing examples from differing faculty areas and making amendments in light of feedback and use before the new school year ahead. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the meeting was super and the insight gained from sharing best practice and reviewing will pay off for our students.

Understanding bread is a skill we start in year 7 and get pupils to build on over time. From pizza toasties in year 7; to pizzas in year 8; to calzones in year 9; to shaped breads in year 10. Here students have been improving the nutritional content of their bread by using wholemeal flour and seeds. Students adapt a basic recipe and develop skills not only needed for their practical exam but also life after school.
