Today started the first of our comprehensive study sessions for Year 11.
Today started the first of our comprehensive study sessions for Year 11.
Part of the key stage 3 programme teaches students about food waste and how to reduce it. As a trust we are committed to reducing land fill waste, so we take every opportunity to encourage pupils to recycle in the food room when possible. Last week year 8 made 75 key lime pies, which meant 75 pots of cream and 75 cans of condensed milk being cleaned and sent for recycling instead of landfill.
Year 9 are working through their cereal commodity module, so we took the opportunity to make some festive hot cross buns this week.
It was allegedly Archimedes who coined the term 'Eureka!' after discovering that the volume of an object is equal to the volume of water it displaces. He used his revelation to help him to establish the authenticity of his Gold Crown, which he doubted was made of pure gold. This week, year 10 students have been putting the theory to the test and working out the volume of some irregular objects. They have then used this to help them to calculate density and then compare their accuracy to published values. Facing some challenges along the way, they have shown some great resilience and teamwork. Well done Year 10!

Chess challenge to beat the Monday blues, it's all eyes on and focus.

Our Year 10 football team enjoyed a great game away at Fisher More this evening.
In windy conditions the team went in to the half time break 1-0 up after a goal from Connor Smith. In the second half Fisher More came out hungry and brought the game to 1-1 after good play down the left wing.
The impressive Bartosz Jagiello then made it 2-1 to Park before a late equaliser from Fisher More.
With the game looking like it would finish as a draw Connor Smith drove the ball home with 2 minutes remaining to make it 3-2 to Park and ensure the team finished the Pendle League unbeaten.

Many of the Park High staff have had the absolute pleasure of enjoying Stage Door Youth Theatre's production of 'Broadway Lights, West End Nights' this evening. Mrs Lowden, Miss Fielding, Mrs Massey, Mrs Gibbons, Mrs Hooper and Mrs Carson saw a 'multitude of stars' who certainly did not 'stick to the status quo' create 'electricity' amongst their audience at the Municipal Hall in Colne. Many of our fabulous students have worked tirelessly rehearsing (alongside other local young people), for what was an absolutely fantastic performance. We are so very proud of them all.
Stage Door have a New Member Evening for any of our interested students on Thursday 20th April at 6pm. For more information, contact janparky@hotmail.com
