Duke of Edinburgh Award
At Park High School we have a proud tradition of running the Duke of Edinburgh Award for our students.
Bronze Award: Year 9 - all pupils in Year 9 have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. They will cover 4 sections; physical, skill voluntary and the final expedition. Students will have opportunities to practice and evidence their skills.
Silver Award: Year 10 - Year 10 students can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. This is a more advanced program for students wanting to gain further development and gain key experience in teamwork, problem-solving and self- sufficiency.
Why is the Duke of Edinburgh award beneficial?
For the hundreds of thousands of young people who take part each year, the benefits of achieving a DofE Award at any level are endless.
Achieving an award will give our students skills, confidence and an edge over others when applying for college, university or a job. Beyond academic achievements, universities want to see evidence of so called ‘soft skills’ that students have developed through extra-curricular activities, such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. The DofE Award is a fantastic way to demonstrate and evidence these skills in practice.
