Year 9 have been building on their research skills in preparation for Year 11. Students need to work independently, researching and trialling dishes to a brief. To practice, pupils went off and created their own research task looking at ice cream. It was great to see how everyone approached the task differently; creating surveys, mood boards, mind maps, and PowerPoints. Some investigated the function of ingredients, while others explored cultural ice creams and asked for peoples preferences. Anyone for a squid ink or sweet potato ice cream?
Year 7 have been making granola bars. It was great seeing the pupils compare and evaluate them when presented together. The same recipe yielded 22 different results that gave pupils the chance to evaluate what went well and what they would do differently next time. This process is core to any Design & Technology subject.
The club continues to grow. With the Dungeons & Dragons campaign in full swing new members tried their hand at painting these space marines and stromcast eternals from Games Workshop.

It's all about fractions of amounts currently for Year 7. Bar models are really helping our students to solve the problems. Can you and your child represent this problem using a bar model? Ask them to show you! #programmeofstudy #maths #learningtogether #problemsolving #teampark #parkfamily #alwayslearning #engagedlearners
