  • Broadening Horizons...

    Year 10 Physics pupils are studying the topic 'Electricity'. Today, they took apart a few non-working laptops to look at what they are made of. They absolutely love the opportunity to see inside and identify the components within the laptop. It paved the way for lots of discussion around PCB boards, LCD displays, circuit components, how wi-fi works and the many careers in laptop manufacture. The parts from the laptops will now be used by Design and Technology for technical drawings.

  • Speedy Science...

    Year 9 have been learning about Motion in Physics and today applied themselves to a challenging task. They worked in pairs to create some data from information about Mario Kart character races. They then plotted distance-time graphs for each character's race and used the completed graph to analyse who was fastest! A tough challenge they embraced with resilience! #proudtobepark #parkfamily

  • Year 11 7-a-side Football

    Our Year 11 lads finished second in the 7-a-side B Team Football Tournament that included Marsden Heights, Pendle Vale, Primet and Fisher More. The team finished unbeaten with one win and three draws. Goalkeeper Callum Anderson kept a clean sheet in all four games playing behind a defence marshalled by Callum Pratt including James Hart and Jamie Cullen.

    The impressive Jack Nevison finished as top scorer with two goals both struck from long distance out on the left wing. Throughout the tournament Park dominated possession with a busy midfield of Leon Browne, Jonah Wilan and Will Varey. Both Aiden Astley and Sam Newton worked hard alternating as the lone striker. Sam  Newtons efforts and hard work throughout the tournament nearly paid off with an instinctive finish thundering the crossbar from close range.

    Year 9 Chemists are studying 'All about Electrons' to understand the fundamentals of Chemistry in preparation for GCSE next year. As part of their course, they made ionic compounds today. They heated magnesium and iron wool with oxygen and iron with sulphur.

    The Maths department have launched a competition to celebrate Pi Day 2022 (March 14th).  Students will have a week to try to recite as many digits of Pi as they can.  Prizes and House points will be awarded to the best in class on March 21st. 

    Can anyone match the world record of 70, 030 digits?

  • More First Aid Skills for Year 9...

    Students in Year 9 have been continuing with the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Scheme as part of our Personal Development Day today. One of their sessions was First Aid; they have been learning how to deal with bleeding. They have covered severe bleeding, shock, minor bleeding, nose bleeds and embedded foreign objects. They had lots of fun dealing with first aid scenarios and using dressings and triangular bandages as part of their treatment.
