    Year 8 students studying Plants in Biology got to grips with the reproductive parts of a flower today using daffodils. They carefully dissected the flowers and worked together to identify all the key parts. They used microscopes to get a closer look at some more intricate features. They also observed some slides showing different flowers and their parts to compare.

    Year 10 soon got to grips with a heart dissection and showed skill and enthusiasm as they were guided through the skill of dissecting. There were lots of smiles, a few squirms and a lot of interest in identifying and understanding the heart as an organ.   • Year 9 win Pendle Football League after late penalty save

    Year 9  finished as the Pendle 11 a-side  football league champions after a dramatic 4-3 win against West Craven. In the final two minutes of the match  'man of the match' Alex Byrne dived low to save a penalty and seal the championship for the team. 

    Year 9 who had already won the Pendle 7 a-side cup earlier in the year played well after going behind 1-0 from a corner in the opening minutes. But goals from Rhys, Connor, Marcus and a long range thunderbolt from Liam set up the win for the lads.

  • Headteacher's Blog - Breakfast with the Boss

    I am so, so proud of our students who have significantly improved their attendance recently.  They have shown resilience, determination and a super mature attitude to their education.  In celebration of their success I was delighted to invite them to share breakfast with the boss.  We chatted over croissants, fresh orange juice, fruit and a brew.  What a perfect way to start the day.  Congratulations to them all.

  • Indoor Athletics County Final!

    On Wednesday 16th of March, our Pendle schools indoor athletics winners for years 7 & 8 participated in the county final in Blackpool. This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils, and they certainly made Park proud! 

    All three teams worked hard to compete in the following indoor athletics events:

    In the field  - Shot put, Speed bounce, long jump, triple jump and vertical jump. 

    On the track - Obstacle course, 2 lap, 4 lap, 6 lap, 8 lap paarlauf and the 4 lap relay. 

    Results:

    Year 7 Girls - 12th 

    Year 7 Boys - 14th

    Year 8 girls - 12th

    An amazing result for each of the teams, 12th, 12th and 14th in Lancashire! 

    A very tired team after participating in different athletic events for 4 hours!

  • Inter-house Badminton!

    On Friday pupils competed in the Inter-house badminton competition and represented their houses! Across years 7-10, a total of 150 participants took part to win points for their houses in both singles and doubles badminton games.

  • North West CAT Dance Workshop!

    Dance students in years 8, 9 & 10 have experienced a fantastic dance workshop led by professional dance artist Lindsey Thomas from The Lowry CAT programme. 

    Lyndsey is a Dance Artist, Body Control, Movement Practitioner and Pilates Teacher. A former professional dancer, Lyndsey trained at The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and enjoyed a 10-year performance career, dancing with various Contemporary companies, including National Dance Company Wales. Lyndsey has over 15 years’ experience teaching dance – Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe Work, Repertoire, Creative, Choreography – delivering to all ages & levels, tots to adults/ beginners to professionals. 

    Students were led through a Contemporary style workshop including technique and choreographic exercises. 

    Students were also informed about what The Lowry CAT (Centre for Advanced Training) course consists of how they can apply. 

    Students thoroughly enjoyed the challenging but very rewarding workshop. Thank you to the amazing Lyndsey for a fantastic afternoon.
